What is Project Christmas Child?

It is a group of volunteers that are willing to provide Christmas Gift Boxes for children in need. In this case specifically for The Rock Place of Safety’s babies, toddlers, and children in our care.

How do I get involved?

Pack a box – Fill in the form below with your details and state for how many children you are willing to
pack. A specific child/children’s information will be sent to you.

How is a box packed?

You can cover your own box. Try to use an empty A4 paper box or another box of similar size. This ensures that all the children receive a gift of similar size and ensures that the gift box stays in one piece during transportation. Please do not use a gift bag.
Very Important: Cover the lid of the box separately to enable us to remove the lid easily. All boxes will be verified before delivery to ensure that at least one item from each category is included, that no sharp objects or items that can cause damage are included and all liquids are closed properly. Nothing will be removed from your box to add to another. The box itself then also becomes a “Special Memory Box” for all those special memories, photos, matchbox cars etc. You are welcome to paint or decorate your box as you please by painting or wrapping it, as long as the lid can be removed, and the contents remain a surprise
Seal your box with a ribbon or thick rubber band and make sure the label with the child’s information, as supplied by us is on the box.
Rather pack one full gift box than two half empty ones.
Please Note: No second-hand items must be placed in the box. This might be the only gift that a child might receive during his/her early child years, and we want to make this experience special with new items. Should you wish to donate second-hand items you are welcome to also bring that separately and we will hand it over with the delivery of the gift boxes.

What must go into your box?

At least one (or more) NEW items out of each of the following categories:

You are welcome to include a letter or card for your specific child in the box.

From previous experience we have come to know that these children have a huge need for basic
items like socks, toothpaste, underwear, toothbrush, bathing soap and a face cloth. You won’t
believe the pleasure a nice smelling bar of soap brings.

1) A toy

– Doll,
– Cars,
– Horses,
– Clay,
– Soft animals,
– Handbags,
– Costume jewelery,
– Soldiers,
– Playing cards,
– Dominoes or
– Uno cards
* Please do not add dangerous gifts like guns,
swords, ketties, pocketknives etc.
* If you add a toy that require batteries, you
must please ensure the batteries are included.

2) Stationary:

– Coloring or activity book
PLUS
– Wax crayons for children younger than
– 5 years
– Felt pens for children older than 5 years
– coloring pencils and sharpener, only for
children over 5 years
– Etc.
* Please do not add scissors.

3) Toiletries:

– Soap and face cloth for bathing
– Toothbrush and toothpaste
Optional:
– Shampoo and conditioner
– Body lotion or cream
– Bubble bath
– Deodorant (roll on only)
* Please seal all liquid items in a Ziplock bag to
limit the damage should a leak occur to protect
the rest of the items in the box.

4) Sweets:

– Hard type sweets,
– Wine gums,
– Lollipops,
– Marshmallows,
– Chips
– Cookies
* Please do not pack anything that can melt.

5) Clothing:

– Underwear
– T-shirts and short pants
– Sun dresses for the girls
– Sleepwear
– Swimwear
– Sun Hat
– Socks and shoes

6) BABIES under 1 year:

– New clothes
– Soft toy
– Baby toy
– White cloth nappy
– Blanket
– Baby towel
– Bath products
– Purity – Babies over 6 months
– New dummies/bottle
* Please do not add anything that can melt.

Where can I deliver my box?

All Gift Boxes must be delivered before or on 18 November 2022.
